CT Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring

The "heart" is a vital organ. Screening for heart disease risk helps us better plan self-care to prevent future illness. Checking for calcium deposits in the heart's blood vessels using a CT scan gives a more accurate prediction of the risk of future heart attack. It's suitable for people with risk factors, such as high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, and stress.

Coronary artery calcium can detect the plaque deposit in the inner wall of coronary arteries and the result is interpreted into score (Coronary Calcium Score). If your score is high, it means you have a high level of plaque buildup.

Who should get coronary artery calcium scoring (CAC) ?

• People who have family members with heart disease.
• Men who are 40 years old and above.
• Women who are 50 years old and above or have menopause.
• People with hyperlipidemia.
• People with hypertension.
• People with diabetes.
• People with central obesity.
• People with high cholesterol.
• People who smoke regularly.

Recommended

1. Please refrain from eating or drinking anything except water for at least 4 hours before your health check-up.
2. If you have any underlying conditions or are on regular medication, please inform the doctor and staff before the examination.
