Section 1: Self-Care Guidelines for Individuals Under Quarantine Living Alone

During the quarantine period, strictly observe the following measures:

  1. Take leave from work and school. Do not leave your residence or travel to any community areas or public places for at least 14 days from the date of potential exposure.
  2. Monitor your symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, or shortness of breath. Measure your body temperature using a thermometer and record the results in the designated reporting form. Maintain daily communication with the district office and public health service center through the agreed channels.
  3. Contact the district office and public health service center immediately if:
    1. You develop a cough, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing, or your body temperature reaches 37.5°C or higher.
    2. You experience difficulties, such as a shortage of food or essential medications for chronic conditions.
  4. Always wear a face mask.
  5. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 70% alcohol.
  6. Place the used mask in a plastic bag, seal the bag securely, and dispose of it in a covered trash bin. Clean your hands immediately afterward with alcohol-based hand sanitizer or soap and water.
  7. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue every time you cough or sneeze, ensuring it also covers the chin. Place the tissue in a plastic bag, seal it tightly, and discard it properly. Alternatively, cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve if a tissue is not available. Clean your hands immediately with alcohol-based hand gel or soap and water.
  8. Clean and disinfect your residence regularly, including the bed, table, high-touch personal items, and the bathroom. Use a disinfectant containing 5% sodium hypochlorite (bleach) diluted at a ratio of 1 part bleach to 99 parts clean water, or use commercially available disinfectant products:
    • Dettol Hygiene Multi-Use Disinfectant or other multipurpose disinfectant products are widely available at supermarkets, convenience stores, and department stores. This formulation can eliminate up to 99.9% of germs, including bacteria and fungi. It is suitable for soaking or laundering fabrics to disinfect them, as well as for cleaning and disinfecting floors and other surfaces. Moreover, it can disinfect various household items, such as by soaking or wiping equipment, tools, and personal belongings, as needed. Unlike Dettol Antiseptic Liquid, multipurpose disinfectants are not for direct use on the skin or body. They are not to be used for wound cleansing or added to bathwater, as these products are designed exclusively for disinfecting surfaces, objects, and household items for hygiene purposes.
      • Directions for proper use on general surfaces.
        • Mix 5 capfuls (1 capful = 21 mL) with 2 liters of water and allow a 10-minute contact time. Use the solution to mop floors, soak, or wipe equipment, tools, and personal items as needed. Rinse thoroughly with clean water afterward.
        • For disinfecting laundry: Mix 2 capfuls (1 capful = 21 mL) with 2 liters of water and soak for 10 minutes to eliminate germs. Then, wash as usual.
  9. Wash clothing, bed linens, towels, and similar items with regular soap or laundry detergent, or launder them in hot water at 70°–90°C.
  10. Have someone deliver meals. The infected individual should isolate at home and refrain from going out to buy food during the 14-day quarantine period.

Section 2: Self-Care Guidelines for Individuals Under Quarantine and Living with Others

  4. Always wear a face mask and keep a distance of 1–2 meters or at least an arm’s length from other household members.
  7. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue every time you cough or sneeze, ensuring it fully covers down to the chin.

  11. The bedroom should have good ventilation, with windows that allow adequate airflow and sunlight.
  12. Avoid using air conditioning whenever possible.
  13. Do not share personal items such as handkerchiefs and towels with others.
  14. Have someone deliver meals. The infected individual should isolate at home and refrain from going out to buy food during the 14-day quarantine period.
  15. Eat by yourself and use your own dishes, utensils, and glasses.
  16. Avoid close contact and face-to-face conversations with other household members, especially older adults and individuals with chronic illnesses. If communication is necessary, use a mobile phone instead.

Section 3: Guidelines for Household Members, Home Hygiene, and Disinfection

  1. All household members should wash their hands as frequently as possible to reduce the risk of infection and transmission, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand gel with at least 70% alcohol.
  2. Monitor for symptoms of illness among close contacts or household members for 14 days after exposure to the patient.
  3. Sleep in a separate room from the infected individual.
  4. If avoiding shared meals is not possible, use separate serving dishes and sit at least 1 meter apart from each other.
  5. Do not share personal items such as handkerchiefs, towels, glasses, or straws with the quarantined individual.
  6. Avoid close contact less than a distance of one meter.
