3. Navigating through the program

Artboard 6

In less than 5 minutes, a staff member will call you for a preliminary health interview and provide briefings for the examinations. The Women's Health Check-up Program comprises 41 items (38 for males). The examinations typically take 3 to 5 hours and 1 to 1.30 hours for test result reporting.

After the briefings, you will receive a food discount coupon, redeemable at a restaurant within MedPark Hospital, after your checkup.

4. Taking blood pressure, height, weight, and blood oxygen level

Artboard 8

Let's embark on the health checkup journey. The first step is taking blood pressure. A staff member will insert a plastic sleeve on your arm before wrapping the blood pressure cuff. This precaution reduces the risk of contact with and spreading infectious agents, ensuring peace of mind.

5. Blood test

Artboard 9

After that, the staff informed you of the vacant station for the blood drawings, which you can proceed to have blood drawn.

Artboard 10

For those who fear needles and blood drawing, let me assure you that MedPark will change your experience. The staff are very comforting and gentle, making the procedure a breeze. In no time, it is over.

Following this, you will receive brief instructions on urine collection.

Artboard 11

MedPark Tips: It is advised to collect a urine sample after an ultrasound. For an accurate result, collect a urine sample from the middle period of urination.

6. Changing into a medical gown and slippers

Artboard 12

Before moving on to the subsequent steps, the staff will advise you to change into a medical gown to facilitate many steps of the screening tests. There are lockers to store your belongings in the changing room.

Artboard 13

7. Chest X-ray

Artboard 14

Next up is a Chest X-ray. It is a reliable method for the initial screening of chest disorders, including lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonitis, intrathoracic tumors, heart conditions, and abnormalities of rib cages, clavicle, and thoracic spine.

8. 3D digital mammogram

Artboard 15

The staff will explain the procedures and examination postures in easily understandable terms. The examination typically takes about 30 minutes. A 3D Digital Mammogram machine enables clear differentiation of mammary tissues, fats, and calcifications within the breast compared to conventional X-rays, which help detect early-stage breast cancer or microcalcifications, allowing breast-conserving treatment without the need for radical mastectomy.

9. Ultrasound of the carotid arteries, breasts, upper and lower abdomen

Artboard 17

This stage takes roughly half an hour and encompasses three tests as follows:

  • Upper and lower abdominal ultrasound examinations help screen for abnormalities of the liver, spleen, gallbladder, bile ducts, appendix, intestines, kidneys, bladder, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and lymph nodes.
  • Breast ultrasound helps distinguish whether a breast lump is cystic, solid, or mixed nodule. If solid, further examination can determine if it has malignant characteristics.
  • Check the carotid arteries supplying blood to the brain to ascertain whether blood flow from the heart to the brain is normal.

10. Bone densitometry

Artboard 16

This package includes bone density scans of the distal forearm, spine, and hip joints. These scans help assess whether there is a propensity towards osteoporosis, a primary cause of bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures.

11. Cervical cancer screening (Thin Prep) and HPV test

Artboard 18

When it comes to screening for cervical cancer and the human papillomavirus (HPV), many people may feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. However, MedPark has changed that perception entirely.

At this stage, there are two tests: Thin Prep screening for cervical cancer and HPV screening for the viruses that cause cervical cancer. Once tissue samples are collected, the doctor will explain the laboratory testing process and emphasize the importance of annual cervical cancer screening.

MedPark Highlight: The examination gowns provided by MedPark are excellently designed, snugly fitting, and feature specific access openings required for the doctor to collect tissue samples, ensuring utmost privacy, comfort, and convenience.

12. Cardiovascular screening

The package encompasses three tests for cardiovascular screening, including:

Artboard 19

  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) examination involves you lying flat on an examining table while electrodes are attached to record cardiac electrical activities. The recording process requires approximately 5 to 10 minutes. This screening can aid in detecting acute myocardial infarction, abnormalities in heart muscle function, or various rhythm disorders in the preliminary stages.

Artboard 20

  • Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) checks for blood pressure abnormalities in the lower limbs. Blood pressure cuffs are placed on the arms and ankles to compare blood pressure in the same arms and legs, which helps detect peripheral artery disease or whether there is stiffness in its wall. This step takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

Artboard 22

  • Cardiac fitness assessment requires a trip to the Cardiology Center on the 8th floor. There are two testing modalities:
    • Exercise stress test (EST) entails walking and running on a treadmill to elevate heart workload while monitoring blood pressure and EKG tracing, which aids in identifying potential coronary artery disease due to inadequate blood supply to the heart muscle. This assessment usually lasts 30 minutes.

Artboard 21

    • For individuals unable to do a treadmill test, staff will suggest an Echocardiography (ECHO). This test involves lying on a bed in a lateral position while using a high-frequency sound wave device to examine the heart. This procedure takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

13. A biomicroscope eye exam performed by a specialist ophthalmologist

Artboard 23

You will go to the Ophthalmology Center on the 12th floor, zone A. The doctor will perform the examination using an ultra-widefield retinal camera, which assesses various aspects of vision, measures eye length, width, and angle, checks eye pressure, tests for color blindness, and examines the eyes through a biomicroscope. After the examination, the doctor will immediately inform you of the eye health results.

Waiting for your reports

After completing all tests, you may need to wait approximately 1 to 2 hours for the testing results, depending on the number of clients. In the interim, you can conveniently take a break and have a meal. Once the results are ready, the staff will call you to return for a consultation with the doctor.

Artboard 24

Once you finish your meal, you can return to the health screening center and wait for the results. While waiting, you can enjoy complimentary snacks such as sandwiches, pastries, tea, coffee, and iced drinks.

Artboard 25

14. Going over the results

After an hour’s wait, the staff indicates the doctor is ready to discuss the test results with you.

Artboard 26

At MedPark, the doctor will go over all 41 items of the examination results with you. If there are abnormalities, the doctor will promptly refer you to a specialist for further evaluation and treatment.

15. Payment

Artboard 27

After being informed of the results, you settle the service fees by going to the OPD cashier counter on the 5th floor. The wait time is approximately 10 minutes, and the financial process is smooth.

16. Receiving your health checkup report

After the payment, you can return to the Health Screening Center to fetch your health checkup report. If you cannot wait for your report, the center will deliver your results via email within three days or via postal mail within 7 days.

Artboard 28

In conclusion, an annual health screening at MedPark Hospital is convenient and worthwhile. It is a comprehensive program with same-day results, eliminating the need to wait for some results at home or take additional time off for follow-up appointments.
