Natural foods that are good for the digestive tract

Foods play a role in promoting the normal function of the digestive tract and reducing the risk of developing GI problems such as stomachache, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and others.

Most natural, unprocessed foods are good for your health. For example, the well-known prebiotics and probiotics, quite popular these days, have different positive effects on our gut health.

  • Probiotics

Probiotics are living microorganisms in the large intestines, such as lactic acid producing bacteria, including Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. This group of bacteria inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria, reduces cholesterol absorption, and breaks down foods that are not digestible in the upper digestive tract.
  • Prebiotics

Prebiotics are nutrients that cannot be digested and absorbed in the upper digestive tract, including the stomach and small intestines but is degradable in the large intestines. They are essential to the function and growth of probiotics, which are beneficial for our health.
